Woolen yarn has been spun continuously in this water-powered, brick mill in Harrisville, New Hampshire since 1794. As a matter of fact, the small village of Harrisville is the only mill community of the early 19th century in America that still survives in its original form! For that reason, in 1977 the Department of Interior designated Harrisville a National Historic Landmark.
Currently, the mill is owned and operated by the Colony family. They developed their line of high-quality children's looms, kits and other kid-friendly fiber products in the 1980's. This is what they say:
"In this fast-paced world where children are being forced to grow up too quickly, we believe that it is essential to help them slow things down and allow them to experience their creative abilities by introducing them to the joys of working with their hands."
The Silver Penny is proud to support this fine company
and offer their excellent products to you and your children.
All of their Friendly Loom products are made in the U.S.A. and most are produced in their own woodworking shop in Harrisville. They spin their yarns from 100% virgin wool and guarantee that items made for your children will be of the highest quality.
