I feel that Needle Felting needs a little explanation -- simply put, it is felting without water. Instead, you use special, barbed felting needles (the same used in industry today) to push the top layer of wool into deeper layers. The unique property of wool fiber that allows it to "stick" to itself causes the wool to felt, without the need for water. This activity is suited for adults and older children ages 10 and up (with strict adult guidance and supervision due to the use of very sharp, long needles). It's fun, easy...and addictive! These high quality, 36 gauge, 3" long felting needles are not like ordinary sewing needles, instead they have no eye, but have a right-angle curve at the top and triangular shape at the pointed tip. They are strong, extremely sharp and have barbs on each of the triangular sides. These barbs catch the fibers of wool as you poke straight down into it, pushing the top layer into the deeper layers, eventually felting the wool without the need for water. They are excellent for embellishing sewing and craft projects, creating accessories, home décor items, rooting doll hair and other soft sculpture projects. Imported from Portugal.

Needle Felted Mushroom Fairy House

Wool roving is a fiber artist’s “chocolate!” This long-stapled, rope of 100% pure, luscious, soft merino wool roving is what makes traditional wet and dry needle felting such a sensory, pleasurable craft! Did you know that blended fibers felt faster? With these two hand carding tools you can custom blend your own colors. This is especially helpful when you don’t have the correct secondary color in your stash, but you do have the primary colors needed to create it! (Remember grade school art class? You know, yellow + blue make green.) They are very easy to use, just place a small amount of each fiber color on the bristles of the bottom tool and then rub the bristles of both tools across each other in opposite directions. You can blend different colors or types of fiber together, refresh leftover or used wool for felting or turn yarn into feltable fiber for beautiful results. Directions are included.

This is a very high-quality foam pad that will last through dozens and dozens of needle felting projects. (It’s difficult to predict the life of your needle felting foam. I’ve heard of artists so obsessed with needle felting that they have worn out their foam pads, but that has never happened to me yet and I LOVE to needle felt.
